CommentsThis one is for all my streetwear ladies. We just got the Claw$ fall collection and new MHI for women to go along with the guys stuff. The women’s MHI is really versatile so you can dress the pieces up with skinny jeans and a heel, or pair them with your favorite Chuck’s for that street-chic look. As for Claw, this drop has a bunch of new tees and hoodies, including her now famous ‘PowerMoneySex’ hoodie in a brand-new turquoise colorway. It’s great for just about any sneaker hookup. Of course, both are exclusive to Next so you don’t want to miss out.

CommentsNew school Chi-Town emcee and streetwear connoisseur Lupe Fiasco talked to MTV recently about his upcoming album The Cool. Although he feels as though his debut Food and Liquor “went over people’s heads” he refuses to dumb his lyrics down on his second album.

To coincide with the release of photographer Shawn Mortensen’s new book, “Out of Mind”, FUCT has created these two t-shirts depicting both Biggie and Snoop in their younger days. Shawn Mortensen is a Los Angeles photographer with his finger on the pulse, Mortensen has taken photographs of the “in crowd” before they were “in”. He also has created photo-essays on the Zapatista movement in Chiapas, Mexico; the ghettoes of Jamaica; and the landscape of Mongolia in an effort to comment on the world’s political climate.Peep the FUCTxShawn Mortensen Tee’s Below:

CommentsBand on stage, originally uploaded by Oscilloscope Studios.
We really appreciate the Beastie Boys and how they helped shape street culture over the past two decades. From their sick rhymes and funky instrumentals, to their bossa nova rhythms, they brought a unique and fresh twist to the whole hip-hop scene.
Their new instrumental, The Mix Up, is a bit of a throw back to their musical roots, as well as a shift to a more mature Beastie Boys Look. They pull off wearing skinny 1960s ties and jacket lapels, as well as fedoras. This is an interesting and quirky twist to their staple mechanic wear, jeans, t-shirt and sneaker look. Love them or hate them, you gotta appreciate the originality.
Anyway, here’s the deal - the Beasties have two more Gala events (Detroit Sept. 25th and Chicago Sept. 26th) that they will be documenting for an upcoming BBoy movie. They are throwing one more interesting competition out to their base by asking everyone to bring a video camera to document getting ready for the show…
Fresh From the Beastie Boys e-mail blast: “if you are shopping for an outfit, or picking one out from your closet, getting mentally and physically prepared for the show, doing your squat thrusts or drinking margaritas… whatever it is that you do in the days, hours, minutes, leading up to the show, please document it. you can also bring your camera to the show to record your arrival, hanging out at the show, leaving, driving home….. of course we are not looking to to make AIFST! But you are welcome to use your camera to document your experience at the show.”
ATTENTCION! In the e-mail they warn against these fashion tragedies:

Stop in at Next and get the latest on the floor to improve your chances of getting your video featured on the BBoy site. Drop us a line and let us know!
If your video gets featured in the Beastie Boys film, you will win a free iPhone + $200 to spend any way! Just comment on this blog post that your video, which includes something bought from Next, made the cut and the iPhone is yours!

CommentsCheck it out. The freshest kicks on the Planet just landed! We heard rumblings that the fall ALife collection was going to be larger than, well, life. We happen to agree! The new ALifes combine extrasensory color ways and textures that are completely original, authentic and curious. From perforated two-tone black/green and black/magenta leather tops, to a blue frog skin synthetic/leather, their Fall 07 effort is a “little dent in the sneaker universe.” Hmm, could ALife be the next “Apple” of sneakers? Wait, who would that make the arch enemy “Microsoft.” Who cares - stop in and check these babies out!

CommentsYesterday, The NY Times reported that Jay-Z has been recording an album inspired by the movie American Gangster and both are set to release in Nov. The interesting thing is that Jay played no role in the movie and this will be his second release in less than a year. The article quotes a few of his rhymes:
“Please don’t compare me to other rappers/compare me to trappers/I’m more Frank Lucas than Ludacris/and Lude is my dude, I ain’t trying to dis/just like Frank Lucas is cool, but I ain’t tryin’ to snitch”
“This is the genesis of a nemesis/Mother America’s not witnessed since/the Harlem Renaissance/birthed black businesses”

CommentsThe boys at up-and-coming NY brand Acapulco Gold scored a New York Times cover page when they outfitted some French skaters in the Times’ recent Paris photo shoot. The shoot and story feature dresses from fashion week while skaters tear up the Parisian cityscape. Pretty fresh.
