I was in Next Beachwood today for a usual drop by and was checking out many of the store layout changes. I love how it’s completely different every time I go in, which is consistent with their “Reinvent or Die” attitude. Having bought a load of great tees for the summer, I was not really in the mood to buy. As someone who appreciates clean lines and contrast, I was struck by these 100% poplin Stussy Slim Gramps Shorts. Graphic tees are awesome, and even better when balanced with something super simple. If you are looking for a no brainer pair of shorts to mix-up and wear everyday with your sneaker and tee archive, then these might be the ones. Timeless, even Gramps might like a pair (minus the skull and cross logo on the back )
“The massive structure of rocks that is Stonehenge has puzzled historians and scientists for centuries, but it appears that the mystery may have finally been solved. Archaeologists now have new evidence which suggests that the monument was built as a cemetery for influential Britons in the Stone Age. It may have even been the burial grounds a prehistoric, long-forgotten royal family….”
Well, it’s been some time since I posted on Rule of Next and it feels good to be doing it as someone other than Staff. I’m Jay and I run Koyono as a full time gig, in addition to helping out with Rule of Next. The picture of the person above is Pete, who runs Ink and Code and is the maestro graphic and web designer for RoN.
We have been brainstorming quite a bit lately trying to get RuleofNext.com up to speed with the Flagship store in Beachwood. One thing we realized is that it needs some personality via the people behind the scenes. In addition to loving fashion (which is a big reason we are doing this), we are a multi-talented bunch with a ton going on. We will be sure to share more day-to-day stuff here.
If you have some comments on how to make things better, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We’d love to hear from you.
PS - Yes, Pete is a huge Indian’s fan boy. So much so, that he has another gig there.

Apparently Polow the Don pulled Usher’s new smash single “Love in this Club” basically from stock sounds already within Mac’s Garageband software. Crazy. This has me thinking maybe I should mess around with that program a little more to see if I come up with the next club hit.

One of my favorite indie rap groups is catching a lot of shine around the blogs today, so I figured I’d follow suit. If it wasn’t for this group, I probably would have never gotten into rap music good rap music. First off, the folks at Karmaloop and their media player did two little interviews with Slug:
Also, both Hypebeast and HighSnobiety finally decided to get hip to the promotional site for the new album “When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold”. It lets you bomb any site on the internet with gold paint, stencils, and fat caps. Pretty cool.
“When Life Gives You Lemons…” dropped April 22 and is available here.
